Tom McBride has a BS in Business Administration from the University of Mississippi, is a graduate of Management Administration from the Navy Post Graduate School in Monterey, California, and has earned a Certificate of Real Estate and Finance from the University of California at San Diego. He was President of McBride Realtors (later Key Realtors) in San Diego.
Since 1965, Tom has been involved with various major California builders in site acquisition, financial structuring, and development of over $100,000,000 worth of commerical and residential properties. These developments spanned the field of real estate construction incuding single family homes, high-rise hotels, motels, resturants, apartment complexes, and neighborhood shopping centers.
In the hotel/motel field, Tom has had experience in site acquisition through ground leasing and land purchases, feasibility analysis, and conceptual preliminary planning, building consultation, recruiting and staffing, handling of furniture, fixture and equipment procedures, and pre-opening programs for "turn-key" delivery of major hotel/motel developments. He currently serves as the President of the Hedrick-McBride Development Company.
Donald E. O'Connor, General Contractor

Donald E. O’Connor oversees all construction projects for HMDC. Mr. O’Connor’s background and experience along with his entrepreneurial spirit which began at a very young age included starting his own lawn mowing business at age 13. He began working in the field of construction by age 15 and later worked for various companies include Hughes Aircraft and Exxon. His assignments included a variety of jobs and involved such industries as fast foods, auto mechanics, clothing sales and others.
While attending college in 1985, Mr. O’Connor started his own janitorial and maintenance company and continued working in this field as owner and operator for over 13 years in two states. Early on, he began doing small construction and maintenance projects and eventually obtained his general contractors license in 1998. In 2003, Mr. O'Connor started his own company, APS General Contractors, specializing in water intrusion and flood & fire restoration services. Over the years, Mr. O’Connor has seen how these elements along with others can easily destroy or damage the structure of a home or business. Today, after more than 16 years of experience in the construction industry, he continues his dream of educating America to build "Smarter" using the “Smart Living Homes” blueprint of construction. Mr. O’Connor has managed hundreds of projects and has worked with developers and investors to build home, businesses and communities. Over these many years of service, he has built quality relationships with customers by first establishing and earning their trust. Mr. O’Connor has been trained and certified in many areas of construction and remodeling. Some of these areas include, but are not limited to, custom remodeling; especially older homes, flood and fire restoration, water intrusion issues, mold remediation, special foundation and retaining wall work, and building “Green” homes in America.
Mr. O’Connor’s education includes a BA in Political Science and extensive continued training in all areas of construction. He is certified in Mold Remediation and Fire, Smoke & Water Restoration. His continued education in the areas of “Green” Construction is ongoing and will continue as his passion to find smarter and more efficient ways to build continues.
Mr. O’Connor has joined HMDC in order to further the work and accomplishments achieved by them over several decades. As a native of California, Mr. O’Connor believes in giving back to the community and offering ongoing community service in a variety of community projects. He has also served in the Boy Scouts along with his five sons.
